A bidding battle from ardent art collectors saw the painting vastly exceeding the estimate to sell for £43.3 million - a world record for any cubist work. The Picasso was sold at a successful Sotheby's Impressionist & Modern Art Evening Sale, where £103.3 million changed hands.
