- At least three people, including an eight-year-old boy, were killed and 144 runners and spectators injured or maimed yesterday after two explosions hit the Boston Marathon.
- The simultaneous blasts occurred approximately several hundred feet apart near the finish line of the race, for which 374 Britons were registered as competitors.
- The boy who was killed, Martin Richard, was waiting for his father to finish the marathon. His mother and a sister are in the hospital with “grievous injuries”.
